COMPARE TO: Fischer Pro Impact FT
HOW IT TESTED: The Fischer Pro No. 1 Impact FT was a favorite among all-courters in the NTRP range of 3.5 to 4.5. They loved the racquet’s maneuverability and whippy feel in the throat, which is created by the frame’s tapered cross section (it’s thicker in the head and thinner in the throat). These characteristics helped players swing aggressively and create angles off the ground and on serves. But the whippy cross section might have detracted from control, as testers tended to miss their mark when they tried to end the point with a big shot. Unlike most racquets, the Pro No. 1 Impact FT doesn’t have any vibration-dampening technology in the handle. The Feedback Grip is, simply put, a stiff shaft designed to send vibrations to your hand for extra feel. Don’t worry, the racquet’s not uncomfortable— Fischer adheres pieces of metal on the racquet to “tune” the vibration frequencies—but the frame isn’t ideal if you want a cushioned sensation.
BOTTOM LINE: It lacks the precision to satisfy control players but has the maneuverability to please all-courters and net-rushers.
