HOW IT TESTED:
An entry into the gameimprovement field, the Metallix 10 is big, ultralight, and powerful, yet surprisingly stable. The innovation in this stick takes place in the throat. The hitting area is huge, but the racquet’s length is barely over the standard 27 inches, and the frame adheres to size regulations. This is due to the fact that Head lowers the bridge located at the bottom of the racquet face to produce a larger hitting surface. To ensure stability and power, Metallix material, which is stronger than typical graphite, is positioned alongside the throat. The new Head Stabilizer—those wings you see—acts as a counterforce to give the frame backbone (and, as an ancillary benefit, cancel out some vibration). Playtesters with slow to medium swings who favor a light racquet enjoyed the Metallix 10. It brought plenty of pop and felt easy on the arm. Some of the better players found that the extra power made controlling serves challenging. But if a player favored spin over pace, the results were better.

BOTTOM LINE:
Players with compact strokes and a need for lightweight power will find a lot to like here.
