FIRST TAKE:
Are you the type of player who won’t consider a racquet under 11.5 ounces? Head has a heavyweight you’ll like.

HOW IT TESTED:
Endorsed by Juan Carlos Ferrero, the Flexpoint Radical MP Tour has the benefits and drawbacks you’d expect from a heavy frame. On the one hand, if you’re not an elite player, the heft could slow down your swing. On the other, if you can wield the weight, it’ll provide you with outstanding stability and power at the baseline and net. When playtesters nailed the sweet spot, which is small, they used words like “clean” and “crisp” to describe the sensation. The Tour is also effective for throwing in a change-up, like slice—but don’t get too cute, because a weak swing will result in a sitter for your opponent. The racquet’s titular technology, Flexpoint, consists of dimples and holes drilled in the 3 and 9 o’clock positions of the head. This allows the head to bend and cup the ball, keeping it on the strings for a split second longer for added control.

BOTTOM LINE:
Like a marriage, this racquet requires work, but the reward—exceptional power and control—is worth it.
