FIRST TAKE:
If you’re learning the sport, you know that hitting the sweet spot can be challenging, and that when you miss it the racquet often twists in your hands, causing an unforced error. Damage control has arrived with this racquet that’s designed, above all else, to offer stability.

HOW IT TESTED:
The Twin Tec 1250 FTi’s outstanding stability can be attributed to two things: metal platelets at the 3 and 9 o’clock positions of the head and a stiff graphite tube, called Twin Tec, inside the throat. Both technologies help keep the racquet from turning on off-center hits. The net result for your game? Even bad strokes can produce good shots. And while the Twin Tec 1250 FTi could be called the SUV of the racquet world–— it’s oversized and powerful—–it’s also surprisingly versatile. A large segment of testers, from novices to intermediates, said the blend of power and control was excellent with a short and, especially, medium-length swing. At net, volleys had good zip, though the maneuverability could have been better. The frame’s comfort, while decent, wouldn’t make this the right pick for someone who wants an ultra-forgiving feel. But if you wish to add stability to your game, you can’t go wrong with this racquet.
BOTTOM LINE:
Exceptional stability should make this a hit.
